Emiko Bokashi Black Earth is an organic long-term fertilizer with EM and charcoal that promotes humus buildup, active soil life and vital plants.
Humus building made easy
- Long-term fertilizer that loosens the soil, builds humus and improves water and nutrient retention
- with charcoal to build a resilient soil structure and even more life in the soil
- Organically bound nutrients are slowly released by microorganisms and are protected from leaching
- nourishes plants and soil organisms, protects them and the soil through high antioxidant power
- Lightly work in 350 g per m² of soil annually (basic recommendation)
Long-term fertilizers and soil improvers
EMIKO Bokashi Black Earth is an organic, long-term fertilizer with EM that provides a constant supply of essential nutrients to all plants while also possessing powerful soil-improving properties. The long-lasting effect eliminates the need for frequent fertilization. If the soil has a good basic nutrient base, a single application per year (early spring or late fall) is usually sufficient.
The organic matter introduced into the soil with EMIKO Bokashi initially nourishes all soil organisms, promotes their reproduction, and protects and revitalizes them with its high antioxidant power, which prevents degradative processes. The activated soil life ensures the slow conversion of organic nutrients into plant-available nutrients. Furthermore, humus formation in the active soil is promoted: This improves nutrient and water retention capacity, soil aeration, and promotes a loose structure.
EMIKO Bokashi Black Soil is based on the knowledge of the benefits and amazing effects of "Terra Preta" in the soil and thus on all plants. The charcoal it contains improves the well-known bokashi effects on soil structure and nutrient and water retention, while simultaneously increasing the refuge and survival opportunities for microorganisms in adverse soil conditions.
Application:
For ornamental plants (bed, pot/tub), crops (outdoors & greenhouse), fruit trees, (berry) bushes, lawns, as depots for trees, for producing good potting soil, planting bed preparation, surface composting
Basic recommendation: 350 g / m² lightly work into the soil
Bokashi has a low pH value. Therefore, apply it 10-15 cm from the plants or wait about 14 days before planting/sowing.
Terra Preta with EM
The durable and highly fertile black soil of the Amazonian Indians (Terra Preta) has long been a focus of many EM practitioners. This special soil was fermented by the Indians long ago from organic matter, charcoal, and naturally occurring microorganisms, enabling enormous harvests on otherwise poor soils. The knowledge of how to produce it was lost for a long time, but has been rediscovered and further developed in recent years. It has been shown that EM Effective Microorganisms®, with their diverse properties, now enable the production of black soil of equal quality.
The many individual pores of the charcoal in this bokashi provide ideal, valued habitats for microorganisms. Thanks to the special manufacturing process, the unique recipe, and the long fermentation time with EM Effective Microorganisms®, all EMIKO® bokashi have a very high antioxidant power, which strengthens the plants.
Making good potting soil:
Materials: 95% potting soil, 5% bokashi, watering with EMIKO soil improver, covering fleece or jute sacks (farm supply, hardware store)
Directions:
- Mix potting soil with EMIKO® Bokashi
- Pour in the mixture until it is moist (test: form a snowball-sized ball out of the mixture – the ball should crumble easily when touched)
- cover with fleece or jute sacks
- Let it mature for 2-3 weeks
Planting bed preparation:
As soon as the soil temperature reaches 8°C in spring, work 200–500 g of EMIKO® Bokashi per 1 m² shallowly into the soil. Then moisten the soil with a solution of 20 ml of EMIKO soil improver and 1 l of water per 1 m². After 2–3 weeks, the microorganisms will have decomposed the organic matter. The soil is now optimally prepared for planting.
Area composting:
After harvesting, leave plant residues on the bed and work a small amount of EMIKO® Bokashi into the topsoil. Mulch with straw, leaves, or grass clippings and water with a solution of 20 ml of EMIKO soil improver and 1 liter of water per 1 m2. This will feed and multiply the beneficial soil organisms and optimally prepare the soil for the next gardening season.
Further advantages of mulching:
- Maintaining soil moisture
- Maintaining soil temperature
- Maintaining a good environment for all microorganisms
- Suppression of weeds
- Preventing erosion
- Improvement of the physical constitution of the soil
- Introducing organic material to feed soil organisms
Application on shrubs and trees:
For fertilizing and caring for diseased and weak trees and shrubs, creating EMIKO® Bokashi Depots has proven effective: Fill 15-20 cm deep holes (2-3 per m2) along the outer edge of the tree or shrub crown with 1 handful of bokashi each and then close them. Additionally, water with a solution of 20 ml of EMIKO soil improver and 1 liter of water per 1 m2.
Repotting potted and tub plants:
- Add 15% potting soil to a plant pot or tub
- Add 15% EMIKO® Bokashi, press down and water with a solution of 20 ml EMIKO soil improver and 1 l water
- cover thinly with potting soil
- Plant plants and fill with potting soil, water
Fertilizing with Bokashi:
Always apply Bokashi at a distance of 10-15 cm from the plants.
