Oregano essential oil (Origanum vulgare) is extracted from the fragrant leaves of the oregano plant and is known for its intense, spicy-herbal aroma. It is used worldwide in cooking and—in careful dosage—can be used as a food flavoring. Always dilute with a carrier oil when used externally.

Cooking with oregano

Essential oils are very concentrated—even a tiny amount is enough. The toothpick method has proven effective: dip the tip into the bottle and then stir it into the food; carefully add more as needed.

• As a food flavoring, dilute 1 drop with 125 ml of liquid or oil/sauce
• Ideal for pasta sauces, marinades, soups and savory dishes

Application (aroma & topical)

• Aromatic: 3–4 drops in the diffuser
• Topical: For massage, mix 5 drops with approximately 10 ml of carrier oil; for fragrance accent, dilute 1 drop with 10 drops of carrier oil

Safety instructions

• Use only diluted; no more than 1 drop per day as food flavoring
• Keep out of reach of children
• Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, face, mucous membranes and sensitive skin areas
• If pregnant, breastfeeding or undergoing medical treatment, consult a doctor before use
