EM silo 10 l

EM Silo 10 l canister, a silage additive duly registered under Regulation (EC) No. 1831/2003. EM Silo accelerates pH reduction during the silage process and improves aerobic stability.

Differences between EM1® and EM Silo®

Both products have the same origin, but EM Silo® has been optimized for silage applications. This means that the composition of the bacterial species has been adapted to the requirements of silage production and quality. Both products can be propagated for their respective applications.

There are many different types of lactic acid bacteria. Some produce lactic acid (homofermentative lactic acid bacteria), others produce lactic acid and acetic acid (heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria). When producing silage, it is particularly important that the pH drops quickly and that a specific ratio of the various acids is maintained in the final product. This ensures that the silage is palatable and agreeable to the animals, and that the silage does not spoil so quickly once the silo is opened ("aerobic stability"). Therefore, a slightly different composition of bacterial species is optimal here than with the soil additive EM1®.
In addition, EM Silo® is subject to completely different legal principles than EM1®, so there are also differences in the approval and registration procedures as well as in taxation (EM1® 19% VAT, EM Silo® 7% VAT).
